Remember a song called Lemon Tree from my teenage years and found it on YouTube again. Have never known the lyrics of it but just like the tune of it. Enjoy!
It’s in Mandarin originally sung by a Taiwanese artiste, Tarcy Su. There’s all this controversy over TikTok’s supposed Chinese spying links. Am not from China nor will I ever go there to stay so just sharing this very cheery song which I hope will put a smile on your face. The second video is a recent remix of the song, broadcast in Shanghai, China. The graphics are just too cute, great for dancing along with your kids. =))
On a side note, don’t think TikTok is the issue. Spying by any authorities all over the world is something that is so easily done on all platforms as everything’s online or just by buying up schools and national resources. What do you think is the solution?
Will also share briefly about David Brooks’s How to Know A Person below.

Looking at the music videos/performances above made me think about DEI legislation. ( the diversity inclusion quota) Am not much in favour of it as I think it does not prioritise talent but merely physical characteristics like “race”. Don’t give much thought into the legislation but have to admit that in the media, not seeing people who look like you being portayed in diverse roles instead of stereotypes is quite damaging for the psyche/ self-esteem.
Thoughts after reading snippets of David Brook’s How to Know A Person.
U know with some people, i.e.. a lecturer, even after learning from them or reading their stuff, the words don’t sink in but with David Brooks, he has a unique and warm voice that just makes his message sink in. This book is a very old book that I started reading periodically recently. A story he shared in the book reverberated in my mind. He shared that one of his best friends committed suicide and that the best friend has a wife and children. This made me ruminate over what David shared about his best friend. I have always thought that only people with nothing going for them (which I can empathise all too well with) would commit suicide. But David shared that friend has trauma from childhood. Don’t want to moral-philosophise on it because this is a not an issue you can cognitively think yourself out of. In a nutshell, How to Know a Person is easy to understand and contains many warm stories and real-life get to know a person tips that probably will sink in.
Hope you enjoy this post and the videos. Let me know your thoughts. XO
Love that song since my younger years as well. Original Beatles - https://youtu.be/KzMBBfyxoLE?si=IgcY8F74cll34rgT
