Iceland has a population of 383,726 at the beginning of 2024 Statistics Iceland while Israel’s population topped 10 million in 2024, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics Times of Israel Article and still ranked 5th in 2024 for country happiness.Israel drops to 5th place Would faith and a strong social belonging play a role in happiness? What are the factors that truly determine the happiness of individuals?
In Asia, happiness is measured to be the highest in Singapore while Thailand and China rank 7th and 9th respectively. Are Thailand and China not as happy as Singapore in real life? I wonder. Regardless, according to an article on the English version of Tempo.com, “Singapore performs very well in terms of GDP per capita, one of the highest rankings in our data set…”Asia's Top 10 Happiest Countries by 2024 I am not saying if this ranking is right or wrong but the variables used to conduct a survey influence the results.

I think what makes a "happy country" is determined by happy individuals and that is so complex that it's difficult to measure by means of purely objective metrics alone...
I find these rankings fascinating! Funnily enough, I don't think I'd be happy in any of the top 3 - 5 countries (too cold and dark in Winter 🙈), but I love the UK where I've chosen to be for now despite its moody climate 🤷🏻♀️
The whole subject of what makes countries happy is such an interesting topic to explore though!
