Book Review of Joman Romero's book on What does the body want to tell us with diseases
Insightful take on diseases and our body.
Find this an invaluable resource.
Joman Romero’s Knowing Ourselves
Excerpt from the book:
“We cannot consider that illnesses are caused by germs or mere coincidence. The origin of disease resides in our consciousness (Soul). Human disease results when we are not in harmony within our own consciousness.”
This is hands-down one of my best purchases on Amazon. Joman Romero, the author also has a website at https://emotionsandbody.com/
The book tells us the emotions and backgrounds that contribute to different symptoms and diseases; and the things we need to resolve to solve these ailments. It is 464 pages of content and a comprehensive guide. I don’t think this book has a religious slant and is purely just a help book or an enrichment book. Personally, I read the excerpt below everyday since I have got the book.
Excerpt from the book:
“If I get sick, I have created my illness. If I am happy, it is because of me. If I suffer, I am responsible for my suffering. If I am healthy, it is also because of me. Nothing in this world can make me ill or make me happy, just me. I create my heaven, and I also create my hell. Each one reaps only that which he has sown.”
An excerpt from the book that may be of interest to you:
Cause of fatty liver as stated in the book:
“ If I have fatty liver, I am experiencing a situation of deficiency, either economically or affectively…(further continued in the book)
On the economic level I have the need to “stay afloat”, to get out of a situation that causes me resentment, related to money…(continued in book)
In the affective field I live in a family enduring criticism, offenses, aggressive behaviour; in which I am the economic breadwinner and I have the feeling that they are taking advantage of me…(continued in book)…therefore, I must biologically make my liver bigger to be able to withstand those difficult and daily situations that I have to live.” Joman Romero continues to give suggestions on how to resolve this.
I used to have sinusitis when I was living at home many many years ago. Once I moved out, I stopped having sinusitis TOTALLY. The change was so obvious that it dawned on me that I must be sensitive to my grandmother who was overbearing and critical.
There are so many explanations of symptoms in the book that you can discover for yourself in your own space. For example, it is written that:
“The person with asthma can indicate that the person lives in a suffocating environment…..in which there are people or situations that make them uncomfortable, pressured and do not know how to handle the situation…
When a child has asthma, we must analyze Sense Project and the relationship between his parents, possibly involved in continuous fights and screams that make the child never feel safe.” The Sense Project is something that Joman Romero mentions in his book, together with other factors. I am still in the midst of reading the book. The list of diseases/ ailments he talks about starts from Pg 39 to Pg 461. Am sure the reader can find some clarity or insights from this book.
In his conclusion, he states:
An observed conflict is a resolved conflict. Sri Nisargadatta

Leaving you with a song that brought me peace as I was listening to it. It is an old song with many renditions I think. Sometimes I just listen to songs but don’t look up the artistes or lyrics. ><
